Almost Done

Because I know you all were on the edge of your seats wondering if I have successfully created a functional singlespeed yet.

So close.

But there's always something. (This picture was taken right before the inaugural ride when the right pedal came loose and stripped the threads out of the crank, which I now need to replace. Although the upside of the story is that in my ongoing quest to find this part, I actually found a helpful, friendly and non-condescending bike mechanic, right here in Seattle. I know, right?)

Map How Far I Walked Around Seattle Carrying a Bike Wheel

I feel like that little kid in Family Circus, but this is how I spent my Sunday.

Check out my map. It would make a lot more sense if I was successful at adding notes, but I was not. Highlights included taking my rear wheel to Recycled Cycles this morning hoping they'd be able to remove the cassette, but being told that it wasn't a cassette but a freewheel and so the final step of my singlespeed project was not happening, picking up my new belt (and some bright-ass new bike lights) at REI, chai at Inner Chapters, cribbage in the park with Diana, talking with Cara while chilling in the other park that is definitely not a reservoir (although there is a cool fountain that looks like a stone igloo with water running over it), dinner with Chloe at the Honey Hole on Pike St., and finally catching the #16 home, ten hours later, still carrying the bike wheel.
