I took this opportunity to try a new flavor, "Bananas on the Rum." Despite being a sweet combination of banana ice cream and brown sugar swirls, it is probably the worst Ben & Jerry's flavor pun yet and it took me a while to figure this one out. "On the rum" was fairly obvious, but I couldn't figure out why bananas of all fruit would be on the run. I know there are the "Bananas in Pajamas"* and similarly I can picture bananas wearing those black & white striped prison uniforms that resemble sleepwear, but I think I just made up that image. So it's got to be playing off "Band on the Run"-- a song that has now been in my head for an hour and a half.

*Back in the day it also took me a while to figure out why the bananas were in pajamas since the word has always been (pa-JAH-muz) to me

i too think of bananas in prison suits when i think of "bananas in pajamas"... so i google-imaged the term, and low and behold, every picture is of bananas in blank and white striped pj's. some bbc cartoon that we're probably way too old to have internalized... and yet somehow...

Caroline is right-- the Bananas in Pajamas do wear prison suits! I guess I wasn't making it up.

Also, apparently the cartoon is based on a British song, meaning it is actually "Ban-nah-nas in Pa-jah-mas."

So I guess it rhymes for everyone unless you happen to pronounce bananas like an American and pajamas like a Brit for some weird reason (being from Boston?) . . .
my contribution: i always thought that song line was 'man on the run' , not 'band on the run'. for refenece sake i will point out that the man was most likely 'on the run' because he 'cant find the pyramids'. makes perfect sense to me.
